Sakhi Niwas (Working Women Hostels)
Working Women Hostels under WD&CW Dept provide food, shelter and security to young women employees of low-income group, who are away from families.
Services out of the total strength in the hostels, 20% to be provided for the students under training for employment for a period of two years with preference to departmental students of nurse training, women’s technical training institute and other employment training programmes
Target group
1. Women who may be single, widowed, divorced, separated or married (whose immediate family does not reside in the same city/area)
2. Preference will be given to women from disadvantaged sections of the society
3. Special preference would be given to beneficiaries with physical disabilities, in case there is shortage of accommodation
4. Women who are under one year job training will also be considered for accommodation subject to availability
5. The number of women under training for jobs should not exceed 30% of the total capacity
6. Girls up to 18 years and boys up to the age of 12 years, accompanying working mothers will be provided accommodation with their mothers
7. Working mothers may also avail of the services of the Day Care Centre, as provided under the scheme
