The Assam State Housing Board is contemplating to discontinue the present Rental Housing Scheme. This is mainly because of very low return and high maintenance cost involved. The rent fixed for the Flats is very low.
Instead of Rental Housing Scheme, the Board proposes to adopt Joint Venture Schemes involving Private Partners in the Model of West Bengal Housing Board. These Flats will be on ownership basis. Flats under different categories i.e., EWS/LIG/MIG/HIG will be constructed for all sections of people.
