गरुड़ पुराण कहता हे की मनुष्य के कर्मो का फल मनुष्य को जीवन में तो मिलता है। परन्तु मनुष्य के मृत्यु के बाद भी कर्मो का फल मिलता है। इसलिए कर्मो के ज्ञान को प्राप्त करने के लिए हिन्दू धर्म में किसी मनुष्य के मृत्यु के बाद मृतक को गरुड़ पुराण का श्रवण कराने से मृतक को जन्म-मृत्यु से जुड़े सभी सत्य का ज्ञान जान सकता है।

There are 229 chapters in the Purvakhand. The number of chapters in Uttarakhand ranges from 34 to 49. The pre-section is also called the conduct section.
